Bending Strength Evaluation of Glulam Beams Made from Selected Nigerian Wood Species

Abstract: Bending strength, was assessed in glued laminated beams made from local wood species bonded with phenol resorcinol formaldehyde, polyurethane and urea-formaldehyde adhesives. The 3-point loading was used as the basis of bending strength assessment along the directions parallel and perpendicular to the glue line. The load orientation parallel to the glue line offered higher bending strength.
