Beneficial effects of the micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF, Daflon® 500 mg) on microvascular damage elicited by sclerotherapy

Abstract: MPFF treatment limited the postsclerotherapy inflammation in surrounding microvascular network, suggesting that MPFF may prevent undesirable secondary effects of the procedure in this animal model. This study warrants further investigation for its use in clinical conditions.

“…Post-injection hyperpigmentation is the most unpleasant and long-lasting complication of sclerotherapy, reflecting the severity of extravasal inflammation. Beneficial effects of MPFF on post-procedure hyperpigmentation have also been observed in previous studies [12][13][14].…”

“…In the hamster cheek pouch, immediate pretreatment with 10 or 30 mg/kg MPFF, or with equivalent doses of any of its constituent flavonoids, significantly reduced the number of leaky capillary sites produced by ischemia-reperfusion [ 91 ]. In a rabbit model of sclerotherapy, MPFF treatment for 21 days prior to initiation of inflammation prevented increases in venular diameter, preserved functional capillary density, and reduced capillary leakage ( p < 0.001) [ 92 ].…”

“…На модели ишемии-реперфузии в опытах на хомяках местная обработка щеки животных МОФФ в дозе 10 и 30 мг/кг или эквивалентными дозами любого из составляющих флавоноидов приводила к значительному снижению проницаемости капилляров [83]. Аналогичные результаты получены в опытах на кроликах [84]. МОФФ уменьшала также индуцированную брадикинином сосудистую проницаемость в кремастерной мышце у крыс [75].…”
