Beneficial influence of single-stage posterior surgery for the treatment of lumbar brucella spondylitis combined with spondylolisthesis

Abstract: We aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the single-stage posterior surgical treatment for patients of lumbar brucella spondylitis combined with spondylolisthesis. In this study, we performed a retrospective analysis of 16 patients with lumbar brucellosis spondylitis combined with spondylolisthesis from January 2015 to January 2019. All patients underwent single-stage posterior lumbar debridement, reduction, interbody fusion, and instrumentation. Preoperative and postoperative of the visual analog scale (… Show more

“…Presently, the treatment for cervical brucellosis spondylitis involves anterior or anterior and posterior debridement, decompression, fusion, and internal fixation, while the treatment for thoracic and lumbar vertebrae is a one-stage posterior debridement, fusion, and internal fixation. [22][23][24] While early spinal endoscopy is controversial in infectious spondylitis, the development of spinal endoscopy and the advancement of treatment concepts are expanding the indications of minimally invasive surgery for infectious spondylitis. The application of unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) technology in brucellosis spondylitis has been studied and proved to be effective.…”
