Benefits of delapril in hypertensive patients along the cardiovascular continuum

Abstract: Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) are the first-line therapy for the treatment of hypertension. However, not all ACEIs are equal. Delapril is a nonsulfhydryl ACEI with unique properties. Delapril has a high lipophilicity and weak bradykinin potentiating action. As a result, delapril has a more potent inhibition capacity of vascular wall angiotensin-converting enzyme activity and a lower incidence of cough than enalapril or captopril. With regard to efficacy, delapril has a long-lasting antihyper… Show more

“…40 The lack of relation between serum 25(OH)D and lipid profile was supported by recent serial clinical laboratory data analysis. 41 We performed interaction tests which suggested there is no multiplicative effect of statin use on the relation between serum 25(OH)D and vascular function. This suggests that statin-induced increases in serum 25(OH)D have similar effects to vitamin D obtained from other natural sources including dietary intake and sunlight exposure.…”

“…On the other hand, other studies have analyzed the antihypertensive efficacy of a combination of indapamide and delapril in hypertensive patients 7982. In DIMS II (Delapril-Indapamide Multicenter Study II), approximately 800 patients with uncomplicated mild to moderate hypertension were randomized to receive delapril/indapamide or captopril/HCTZ for 6 months.…”
