“…In our study, the median length of follow-up of 10.37 years was half that of the Nashville study. However, one recent study drawn from the New Mexico Tumor Registry, reported that fibroadenoma, grouped as a low-risk category with other proliferative lesions without atypia such as hyperplasia and adenosis, did not show an association with subsequent breast cancer development (30).
