“…Similarities at genus and species level can be detected when the fauna described herein is compared to AalenianBajocian faunas described in Europe (e.g. Reolid et al, 2008Reolid et al, , 2010. For instance, the species Astacolus dorbignyi, Nodosaria fontinensis, Pseudonodosaria vulgata, Lenticulina muensteri, Citharina clathrata and Eoguttulina liassica occur in the Aalenian-Bajocian GSSP of the Murtinheira section, west Portugal (Canales & Henriques, 2008.…”

“…Abundant and diversified Nodosariidae (Figs. 6b, 7c, 9b) are adapted to well-oxygenated microhabitats (ranging from epifaunal to deep infaunal), and with active deposit-feeder and grazing feeding strategies (Reolid et al 2008), as confirmed by positive d 13 C carb values and a low OM content (Figs. 6,7,9).…”

“…This finding challenges the observations of Kaminski et al (1988), Jones (1999), Kender et al (2005), Jones (2006) and Kender et al (2008) who recorded exceptionally high abundances of agglutinated foraminifers in delta fan environments with high sedimentation rates and strong terrestrial input. The recorded rounded planispiral (Haplophragmoides, Cyclammina) and tubular unilocular (Bathysiphon) morphotypes are considered epifaunal to shallow infaunal active deposit and suspension feeders (Tyszka 1994;Van den Akker et al 2000;Kaminski et al 2005;Reolid et al 2008;Nagy et al 2009). The frequent abundance of Bathysiphon filiformis indicates a high nutrient flux of shelf-derived organic matter to the seafloor (Gooday 1993(Gooday , 1996Kaminski et al 2005;Murray 2006;Kender et al 2008).…”
