Beta diversity and taxonomic sufficiency: Do higher‐level taxa reflect heterogeneity in species composition?

Abstract: Aim  Virtually all studies exploring the use of taxonomic surrogates in assessing patterns of diversity have focused on clear shifts in the location of samples in multivariate space.
