Bezel free design of organic light emitting diode display via a‐InGaZnO gate driver circuit integration within active array

Abstract: In this article, we described an innovative design technology of active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display, to provide a bezel free design. We designed gate driver circuit of amorphous indium‐gallium‐zinc oxide thin‐film transistors (TFTs) not on the bezel area but within the active array. Although we applied challengeable design, no degradation of electrical/optical properties of panel was observed. Because we effectively prevented capacitive coupling and interference between the emission ci… Show more

“…The gated drive circuit of OLED displays is much more complex than that of LCD displays due to the need of realizing different driving functions. Gated drive circuit applied as it offers several advantages such as narrow bezel size, higher productivity, and reduced manufacturing costs [8]. However, placing a complex circuit with oxide TFTs in a restricted area is limited in terms of the high resolution of medium-area OLED displays.…”

“…Portability, user-convenience, and multi-functionality in daily life are the important issues in the trend. When it comes to portability, displays have made remarkable transition over the past decade from the flat panel liquid crystal displays (LCDs) 1 to the thin bezel-free display 2 , 3 . Displays are now evolving to have new form factors, with the advent of the self-luminous displays made of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) 4 , quantum dots LEDs (QLEDs) 5 , and micro LEDs (µLEDs) 6 .…”
