“…This common insect, the larva of which feeds upon grasses (Coquillett 1880;Edwards 1889;Comstock 1949), covers a wide range from Canada to the Gulf States and westward t o the Rocky Mountains, and the moths frequent the blossoms of the golden rod (Solidago) in the late summer (Holland 1968). In Nova Scotia, Fox (1953) reported an outbreak of this insect on tall cord grass, Spartina pectinata Link, on poorly drained marshes occasionally used for hay; damage was severe in small areas.…”
