Introduction: Life expectancy is getting longer, and the proportion of the elderly population is increasing. Therefore, the concept of healthy aging gains importance and attracts attention in the scientific community. This article presented a ten-year bibliometric analysis of articles on healthy aging in the Scopus database. Methods: The Scopus database was used for the bibliometric analysis. The publication list was created using the keywords «aging well» and «healthy aging.» The number of articles, active countries-journals, frequent keywords, prolific authors, and funding sources were defined. Results: An upward trend was observed in the number of articles related to healthy aging between 2013 and 2022. The five leading countries in publication activity were the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada, respectively. The most prolific authors were Ferrucci, L., Franceschi, C., Evans, M.K., Bennett, D.A., and Deary, I.J. The five most active journals were Plos One, Scientific Reports, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. Conclusion: Bibliometric analysis is a valuable method for assessing global trends in producing scientific literature on particular topics. This study revealed an upward trend in articles on healthy aging over time, indicating an increasing interest and focus on this topic. As the elderly population grows, it is anticipated that interest in healthy aging will progressively increase. It will be advantageous for researchers interested in this field to establish collaborations with prominent authors and institutions. Thus, they will canalize their future investigation in the proper direction.

Background Retraction is a process for correcting the literature and provides a barrier to the dissemination of publications that include major faults or false-misleading data. The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics of retracted articles in the biomedical field sourced from Turkey. Methods In this descriptive cross-sectional study, all retracted publications from Turkey on PubMed were listed without date restriction. Data covering the article title, authors, publication date, retraction date, time between publication and retraction dates (in months), journal, article type, country of the corresponding author, peer review timeline (in days), reason for retraction, and subject area of the retracted item were recorded. Citation data were obtained using the Scopus database. The altmetric attention scores of the articles were recorded. Results A total of 102 articles were listed and after the implementation of exclusion criteria, 86 articles were included for analysis. The first retracted article was published in 2000 (n = 1), while the most retracted articles were published in 2020 (n = 11). The median time lag between publication and retraction was 10.33 (0.73–144.06) months. The main factors causing retraction were plagiarism (n = 23), duplication (n = 22) and error (n = 17). The total number of citations was 695. A total of 224 citations were in the pre-retraction period and 471 citations were in the post-retraction period. Conclusion The retracted article counts showed a rising trend over the years. The leading causes of retraction for articles from Turkey were plagiarism, duplication, and error. It was found that the articles continued to be cited after the retraction. Researchers in Turkey should be educated on retraction, particularly plagiarism and duplication. Strategies should be developed to prevent articles from being cited after retraction.

Purpose: Portal hypertension (PHT) is a clinical syndrome characterized by a portal vein pressure gradient exceeding 5 mm Hg. Portal hypertensive complications have high morbidity and mortality. The present study aimed to provide an overview of portal hypertension research, as well as investigate the publications and citations of countries, authors, and institutions, international cooperation, and the density of terms used, employ a bibliometric analysis method, and shed light on future research. Materials and Methods: The search was performed on the Web of Science (WoS) on October 21, 2021. The term "Portal hypertension" was searched in the paper "title" section between 01.01.2001 and 31.12.2020. The software VOS viewer (Version 1.6.17), which shows the partnership mesh in bibliometric works, was used to analyze the data obtained. Results: The most frequently used keyword was portal hypertension with 46.4%, followed by cirrhosis with 11.1% and liver cirrhosis with 7.4%. In our study, the most effective journals related to portal hypertension were the World Journal of Gastroenterology (86 articles, 1264 citations), the Journal of Hepatology (45 articles, 2781 citations), and Hepatology (44 articles, 3769 citations), and Gastroenterology had the highest average citation (117.8). Conclusion: The present study offers an alternative viewpoint on global research trends in portal hypertension between 2001 and 2020 and is the first bibliometric analysis of portal hypertension, an issue with an increasing publication trend. We believe that by providing comprehensive and structured information on portal hypertension, the study will assist researchers in identifying publication hotspots and gaps on the subject.
