Bibliometric Literature Review of Adaptive Learning Systems

Abstract: In this review paper, we computationally analyze a vast volume of published articles in the field of Adaptive Learning, as obtained by the Scopus Database. Particularly, we use a query with search terms targeting the area of Adaptive Learning Systems by utilizing a combination of specific keywords. Accordingly, we apply a multidimensional scaling algorithm to construct bibliometric maps for keywords, authors, and references. Subsequently, we present the computational results for the studied dataset, reveal sig… Show more

“…A bibliometric analysis represents a quantitative methodology by which meaningful insights can be obtained from large quantities of data (Broadus, 1987). The main outcomes of a bibliometric analysis are the identification of emerging research trends in a field, collaboration, and publication patterns, and exploration of literature structure (Koutsantonis et al, 2022). The approaches of a bibliometric analysis could be categorized into two main groups: performance analysis and science mapping (Solorzano and Plevris, 2022).…”

“…The method presented in [21,22] is extended and utilized to analyse the obtained database of papers. To define the contingency matrix c, we denote the elements of the matrix as c ij , where i, j ∈ [N ] = {1, 2, .…”

“…[23] discussed the advancement and research trends of smart learning systems in pervasive environments. [24] analyzed a vast volume of published articles in the field of adaptive learning. [25] compiled the challenges faced by context-aware recommendation systems and demonstrated the ability of bio-inspired computing techniques and statistical computing techniques to handle these challenges.…”
