Bifunctional Electrodeposited 3D NiCoSe2/Nickle Foam Electrocatalysts for Its Applications in Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Reaction and for Hydrazine Oxidation

Abstract: The development of stable and efficient oxygen evolutional electrocatalysts is fundamental to the production of hydrogen by water electrolysis. However, so far the majority of electrocatalysts require a substantial overpotential (η) (approximately >250 mV) to catalyze the bottleneck oxygen evolution reaction (OER). To overcome this large overpotential for OER, herein we report the growth of nickel–cobalt–selenide (NiCoSe2) nanosheets over 3D nickel foam (NF) via a facile and scalable electrodeposition method. … Show more

“…For the regularity of compounds properties in the same family, transition metal-based selenides synthesized by electrodeposition also have received wide attention, like Co-Se, Ni-Se, NiCo-Se and NiCoFe-Se, etc. [64,[185][186][187][188][189]. Taking selenite as source, the process of co-deposition with metal is similar to sulfide.…”

“…Hence, development of low-cost and highly efficient non-noble metal OER electrocatalysts has been an active research in recent years, such as transition metal (Ni, Fe, or Co, etc.) phosphides [6][7][8][9], sulfides [10][11][12][13][14][15][16], selenides [17][18][19][20], carbides [21,22], nitrides [23][24][25], hydroxides [26], oxides [27], and chalcogenides [28]. Among these reported transition metal compounds, transition metal-based selenides are specifically attractive for OER, due to their metallic nature with high intrinsic electronic conductivity.…”
