PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to propose a new conceptual framework for big data analytics (BDA) in the healthcare sector for the European Mediterranean region. The objective of this new conceptual framework is to improve the health conditions in a dynamic region characterized by the appearance of new diseases.Design/methodology/approachThis study presents a new conceptual framework that could be employed in the European Mediterranean healthcare sector. Practically, this study can enhance medical services, taking smart decisions based on accurate data for healthcare and, finally, reducing the medical treatment costs, thanks to data quality control.FindingsThis research proposes a new conceptual framework for BDA in the healthcare sector that could be integrated in the European Mediterranean region. This framework introduces the big data quality (BDQ) module to filter and clean data that are provided from different European data sources. The BDQ module acts in a loop mode where bad data are redirected to their data source (e.g. European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, university hospitals) to be corrected to improve the overall data quality in the proposed framework. Finally, clean data are directed to the BDA to take quick efficient decisions involving all the concerned stakeholders.Practical implicationsThis study proposes a new conceptual framework for executives in the healthcare sector to improve the decision-making process, decrease operational costs, enhance management performance and save human lives.Originality/valueThis study focused on big data management and BDQ in the European Mediterranean healthcare sector as a broadly considered fundamental condition for the quality of medical services and conditions.

The study aims to investigate how Big Data Analytics may revolutionize modern business management by fostering innovation and providing a competitive edge. The study looks at the adoption rates, strategic implementation, and effects of Big Data Analytics on organizational performance indicators like revenue growth, customer acquisition, retention, and market share. It thoroughly evaluates the literature and case studies and analyzes future trends. The results highlight how businesses use BI tools, data visualization strategies, and advanced analytics capabilities to boost operational effectiveness and spur revenue growth. These developments highlight the growing use and strategic significance of big data analytics. However, to guarantee the appropriate and fair implementation of Big Data Analytics in company management practices, issues like data privacy and security concerns call for solid data governance frameworks and governmental interventions. The report offers insightful information and policy recommendations for businesses looking to use data-driven tactics to confidently and nimbly negotiate the challenges of the modern digital economy.

The proliferation of advanced technologies and the rapid adoption of connected devices and mobiles were behind the tremendous growth of geographic data introducing the concept of Big GeoData. The extraction of useful patterns is an interesting process, but the specific features and the complexity of relationships among spatial objects outpace the capacities of current systems. The unique way to tackle challenges raised by Big GeoData is to develop new platforms and systems. To discuss this topic, this article starts with an introduction of Big GeoData and spatial data mining tasks, followed by a reviewing of works made on Big GeoData analytics as well as their issues. Finally, authors propose their approach to develop a tool allowing the analysis of Big GeoData. This tool will encompass a wide range of algorithms and techniques to carry out most of the data mining tasks.
