A botanical exploration and collection were already conducted in March 2019 in Pasir Banteng and Pasir Pogor, Mount Gede Pangrango National Park, Indonesia, by a staff team from Cibodas Botanic Gardens (CBG). The following steps are to ensure these plants will be vigorous and survive in the nursery, which will later be ready to be planted and displayed as a garden collection. This study aimed to describe a series of treatments and management of these collections, analyze the survivorship level in the nursery, and record which seedlings were successfully planted in the garden. We explained the plant maintenance used a qualitatively-descriptively method; the survivorship level was measured based on the proportional numbers of the survived individuals; the planted seedlings in the garden were recorded from the field observation. The findings showed that in the first three months of maintenance, seedlings occurred a large amount of mortality. Next, from June 2019 to August 2020, the seedlings performed good development with no mortality reported. In September 2020, as many as 13 specimens experienced mortality. At the end of December 2020, the total crude mortality was 41 specimens, and the survivorship level was 75.15%. All the orchid specimens have been planted as the garden collections

Preservation of local genetic resources through exploration and conservation along with inventory and characterization are efforts to maintain food resources. Optimizing land use is very potential in the development of local genetic resources. Objective of the research was to characterize local mangosteen from Pati and to optimize the land use. The primary data was derived from the mangosteen characterization results. Information for the secondary data was derived from various sources relevant to the research. The data includes: land potential, climatology, and agroecosystems. Characterization was conducted on a cultivar of Gunungsari mangosteen as the parent plant used in this research. Format of the mangosteen description has been arranged in the form of standard blanks. Results of the research showed that the public yards are potential to develop local mangosteen of Gunungsari. Morphological characters of the Gunungsari mangosteen are red petals (44 A Red Group), circular shape p-1, average weight of the fruit ranges 119.22 g-180.53 g, yellowish white aril (NN 155 A yellowish white) and the taste is sweet and slightly sour. The specific characteristics of Gunungsari mangosteen are soft seeds, the aril tastes sweet and slightly sour, fine fibrous textures, delicate aroma, and high production. The residents’ yards in Gunungsari Village are potential for the development of local fruits commodities especially mangosteen. In order to keep up the local genetic resources and to increase the economic value, Gunungsari mangosteen must be registered immediately to acquire the Certificate of Registration of Plant Varieties.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat proses pembentukan kelompok Tani Pelestari Hutan di Taman Hutan Raya Nipa—Nipa (Tahura Nipa-Nipa) dan tingkat partisipasi anggota KPTH tahura Nipa-Nipa dalam pengelolaan Hutan.. Penelitian dini dilakukan di Tahura Nipa-Nipa pada kelurahan Watu- watu dan Tipulu dengan sampel sebanyak 70 KK. Variabel yang diamati adalah proses pembentukan KPTH berupa latar belakang dan tujuan pembentukan KPTH, serta tingkat partisipasi kelompok dalam pengelolaan Hutan di Tahura Nipa-Nipa. Data hasil penelitian ditabulasi dan diberi skoring berdasarkan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian adalah KPTH dibentuk pada awalnya karena adanya keinginan masyarakat untuk mengelola kawasan Tahura dengan lestari sekaligus dapat mensejahterakan anggotanya. Tingkat partispasi masyarakat pada tahap perencanaan pembentukan kelompok tergolong rendah, sedangkan tingkat partispasi anggota KPTH pada pengorganisasian dan pelaksanaan program tergolong tingkat partisipasi tinggi, hal ini disebabkan karena adanya kemauan masyarakat untuk mnegelola hutan secara lestari. RehderAbstract: This study aims to determine the process of forming a group of Forest Conservation Farmers in Nipa-Nipa Forest Park (Tahura Nipa-Nipa) and the level of participation of Nipa-Nipa Tahura KPTH members in forest management. watu and tipulu. This study used a simple random sampling method. The observed variables were the process of forming a KPTH in the form of the background and purpose of establishing a KPTH, as well as the level of group participation in forest management in Tahura Nipa-Nipa. The research data were tabulated and scored based on a Likert scale. The results of research on the background of the KPTH were formed is the desire of the community to manage the Tahura area sustainably while at the same time be able to prosper its members. The level of community participation at the planning stage of group formation is relatively low, while the level of participation of KPTH members in organizing and implementing programs is classified as a high level of participation, this is due to the willingness of the community to manage forests sustainably.
