Binding Investigation of Some Important Metal Ions Copper (I), Nickel (II), and Aluminium (III) with Bovine Serum Albumin Using Valid Spectroscopic Techniques

Abstract: Studies based on the interaction of metals with proteins resulted in the development of promising metal-based compounds with encouraging medicinal potential. This study was aimed to utilize FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques to analyze the interactions of biologically significant metal ions, such as Al3+, Ni+2, and Cu+, with bovine serum albumin (BSA). Different concentrations of metal ions were interacted with BSA, and the complexes were analyzed using the two techniques. The change in the BSA secondar… Show more

“…BSA is known to have a strong affinity for binding metal ions, the amino acid residues, such as histidine, cysteine, and methionine, have a high affinity for metal coordination. [ 17 ] The ampholytic and richly reactive nature of BSA, along with its strong microwave absorption capability, can potentially enhance the properties. [ 18 ] Therefore, the integration of MOFs with BSA presents an exciting direction for overcoming existing limitations and improving the utility of these materials in microwave absorption.…”

“…The interaction of aluminum and iron ions with bovine serum albumin (BSA) has been studied by various spectroscopic methods in recent years. UV–Vis absorption spectra along with infrared spectra were used to measure Al 3+ -BSA binding constants 5 . UV, Raman and circular dichroism spectroscopy of the complexes makes it possible to draw conclusions about the nature of the interaction of Fe 3+ with BSA, namely, with tryptophan and tyrosine residues 6 .…”
