“…[ 137,138 ] The pre‐clinical study evaluated the adminitering of low dose of C. longa extract in rodents prevented the acute and chronic phase of arthritis and concluded the C. longa comprising an active component curcuminoid possesing an potent as antiinflammatory activity.. [ 139,140 ] - Eysenhardtia polystachya – The Eysenhardtia polystachya commonly known as Palo Azul belonging to family Leguminosae comprises of chief components like (3S)‐7‐hydroxy‐2′,3′,4′,5′,8‐pentamethoxyisoflavan, (3S)3′,7‐dihydroxy‐2′,4′,5′,8‐tetramethoxyisoflavan, stigmasterol, isoduartin, cuneatin, 7‐hydroxy‐2′,4′,5′‐trimethoxyisoflavone and 3,4‐dimethoxy‐8,9‐(methylenedioxy) pterocarpan possessing anti‐inflammatory property and has been demonstrated in therapy of arthritis. [ 141–143 ] The preliminary animal data concluded that the screening the therapeutic value of ethanolic extract of E. polystachya bark against complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)‐induced rheumatoid arthritis model given orally significantly reduces the arthritic pain in rats. [ 144 ] The study proposed a mechanism of therapeutic value of E. polystachya by inhibiting of secondary inflammatory reactions and reducing the serum concentrations of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines like IL‐6, TNF‐α and GM‐CSF in arthritic rats.
