Bioactive Secondary Metabolites from Aspergillus fumigatus ON428521 Isolated from Wadi El Rayan, El Fayum Governorate

Abstract: Egyptian Journal of Botany http://ejbo.journals.ekb.eg/ 15 F UNGI were isolated from Wadi El Rayan soils, and their secondary metabolites, extracted by petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, and chloroform, were tested for antimicrobial activities. Among the isolates, fungus-F1 extracts exhibited remarkable inhibitory activity against the tested microorganisms; therefore, it was subjected to morphological and molecular identification, and the fungus identified as Aspergillus fumigatus ON428521. With an inhibition zon… Show more

“…fungi and can generate the most physiologically active secondary metabolites (Mokhtar et al, 2023).compounds produced by Aspergillus species were classified as terpenoids, alkaloids, steroids, lignans, quinones, acetones, and phenols (Abdel-Wahhab et al, 2020). Many biological activities were documented in other investigations utilizing these flavonoid and phenolic compounds.…”

“…The World Data Centre for Micro-organisms (WDCM) reports about 378 species of Aspergillus, of which approximately 180 fungal species are of pharmaceutical and commercial importance [18][19][20]. Due to its diversity, Aspergillus undoubtedly remains one of the most significant contributors to interesting secondary metabolites that exhibit anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant and antibacterial activities [21]. Sunil et al (2014) reported that Aspergillus oryzae produces a high level of L-Glutaminas and potential anti-oncogenic activity against the MCF-7 cell line of human breast cancer [22].…”
