Abstract:The bioavailabüity of zinc in three infant cereals was determined by a rat assay, using total femur zinc as the indicator. The basal diet contained 25% egg white solids and 0.6 µg zinc per gram. The infant cereals were included in the diets at three graded levels to supply 3-12 µg zinc per gram. Zinc sulphate was used as a standard source, with and without supplemental iron (185, 370, 555 µg/g, respectively) at 3, 6 and 9 µg zinc per gram with a view to determine the effect of excess iron on zinc availability.… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
