“…This suggests a synergistic effect of SOD and CAT on ROS scavenging (Si et al 2019). Increased CAT activity indicates activation of the cellular antioxidant defense system to repair oxidative stress damage by scavenging and breaking down excess H 2 O 2 (Sharma et al 2022). Specifically, intestinal CAT activity decreased significantly after 20-25 d. This may be because of the large amount of CAT used to eradicate H 2 O 2 after a sustained H 2 O 2 surge after continuous zinc exposure.…”
