The Massaciuccoli Lake (northern Tuscany, Italy) Natura 2000 habitat map (1:10,000) was compiled from photo-interpretation and recent phytosociological studies, integrated by field surveys of the vegetation units. Conventional geographical information system procedures were used to select and manage spatial information. The following attributes were assigned to each map polygon: (i) vegetation type, (ii) habitat typology and (iii) percentage cover of the habitat type. Habitat types covering polygons smaller than 50 m 2 were treated as points. A total of nine Natura 2000 habitat types were identified and mapped; they cover almost 20% of the study area. The results show that of all sites on the Italian peninsula, Lake Massaciuccoli Calcareous fens with Cladium mariscus covers the largest surface area and is crucial for the national conservation of this habitat type. It is also of priority importance in Europe.ARTICLE HISTORY

Mean annual precipitation from 1950 to 2000 was 1,100 mm, while mean summer rainfall (June, July and August) was 205 mm, with a short period of summer water deficit usually lasting from mid-July to mid-end August; average annual temperature was 11 °C (Pesaresi et al, 2014). Pastures undergo semi-extensive shepherding; traditionally pastoral activities start in June and continue until the end of October.…”

In sub-Mediterranean climate the grassland aboveground phytomass production peaks in late spring and drops in summer, when the decrease of the pasture feed value may lead to the worsening of the animal welfare. Our goal was to define the summer rainfall values leading to a decrease of semi-extensive farming system sustainability in sub-Mediterranean regions. Summer rainfall variations reflect in the aboveground phytomass production and on the sheep body state. Differences of body condition score (BCS) among years were significant in late summer, which is the mating period for sheep. In the driest year the BCS of end August drops down to 2.1, largely below the value considered sufficient to ensure the animal breeding/milking performances (2.5). Reduction of summer rainfall greater than 15–20% compared to the normal average value (thus less than expected by the scenario of climate change) might be detrimental for semi-extensive rearing sustainability in sub-Mediterranean climate.

RESUMENPara este trabajo se ha preparado una página web, y también un archivo en formato KML, compartido en la misma página web, con la información de los Isobioclimas de la España Peninsular y Balear, publicada en 2015. Para su realización se ha utilizado HTML5, estándar de la W3C para la geolocalización, y Open Layers para generación de mapas web de código abierto. Este formato permite ser leído por múltiples aplicaciones en diferentes sistemas operativos y tanto en dispositivos fijos (ordenadores) como portátiles (móviles y tablets). Así el usuario puede consultar, "in situ", la información del Isobioclima sobre el que se encuentra en el campo. Haciendo un clic de ratón sobre la mancha de Isobioclima, se obtiene más información sobre el mismo.Los Isobioclimas están definidos por todos los factores bioclimáticos jerarquizados de un área y se expresan con una frase que incluye Macrobioclima, Bioclima, Variante Bioclimática (si la hubiere) y Piso Bioclimático -Termotipo y Ombrotipo-y permiten reconocer las áreas de igual potencialidad biológica. Los geodatos preparados contienen la información de los 72 Isobioclimas encontrados en el territorio de la España Peninsular y Balear.Palabras clave: Bioclimatología, dispositivos móviles, HTML5, KML, geodatos. ABSTRACTFor this work a web page has been prepared, as well as a file in KML format, shared on the same web page, both with information on Isobioclimates of Peninsular Spain and the Balearic Islands, published in 2015. HTML5, W3C standard for geolocation, and Open Layers for generation of open source web mapping, have been used. This format can be read by multiple applications on different operating systems and in both fixed and devices (computers) and portable (mobile and tablets). So the user can consult, "in situ", information about the Isobioclimate of its present position in the field.
