Biodegradation of Navy N5RL1 carpet dye by Staphylococcus saprophyticus strain BHUSS X3

Abstract: Biodegradation of Navy N5RL1, a widely used acidic azo dye in carpet industry, was studied by bacterial strain isolated from the dye-contaminated soil collected from a carpet industry premises located in Bhadohi, Sant Ravidas Nagar and Uttar Pradesh, India. The isolated strain was identified as Staphylococcus saprophyticus BHUSS X3 on the basis of morphological, biochemical and 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis. The strain BHUSS X3 decolorized 95.7 % of dye (100 mg/l) within 6 h at optimum pH 8, temperature 3… Show more

“…4 b, the NYC-1 consortium decolorized AO7 efficiently (approximately complete decolorization) after 6 h of incubation under static conditions, whereas above 48% decolorization was achieved after 15 h of incubation under agitation conditions (120 rpm). This was probably due to the synergistic metabolic activities and production of enzymes by NYC-1 for the decolorization of AO7 dye under static conditions [ 95 ]. On the other hand, the growth of NYC-1 consortium under agitation conditions was fast as compared to its growth under static conditions, which was probably due to the facultative nature of yeast cells to grow anaerobically.…”

“…strain MEH038S. The maximum decolorization percentage of Navy N5RL1 by Staphylococcus saprophytic BHUSS X3 was observed at 35 ° C (Kumari et al, 2015). The optimal temperature for decolorization of Reactive Blue 4 by Staphylococcus Hominis Subsp.…”

“…16S rDNA sequence analysis was performed for molecular identification of stain DB2. The genomic DNA was isolated using the modified CTAB method ( Kumari et al, 2015 ). The partial sequence of 16S rDNA was amplified by PCR using bacterial universal primer pairs of 16SF (5′-AGAGTTTGATCATGGCTCAG-3′) and 16SR (5′-ACGGTTACCTTGTTACGACTT-3′; Weisburg et al, 1991 ).…”
