Biofilm and latent bacteria in equine uterus

Ryan Ferris

Abstract: Subfertility in the mare can be frustrating to the clinician. Recent data suggested that bacteria in either a biofilm or latent state may be responsible for certain cases of subfertility. Recent work has identified the pathophysiology for these types of chronic infections in the mare and best methods for therapy. The goal is to elucidate the pathophysiology of biofilm and latent infections and the diagnosis, and treatment of these types of infections in clinical practice.
