Abstract: Biogenic carbon dots (BCDs) are useful fluorescence sensors for selective detection of toxic metals. In the present work, we propose to synthesize a hybrid fluorescent chitosan gel using BCDs for detection and enrichment of Fe(III) ions and subsequent ratiometric detection of glutathione (GSH). Carbon dots were synthesized using waste lemon peels (LCDs) as the precursor. The sensing studies showed the selectivity and ultrasensitivity of the LCD sensor toward Fe(III) in the presence of other metal ions with a… Show more

“…In general, there have been two fluorescence sensing forms of the Ln-MOF material. One such attractive fluorescence sensing form is the ratio fluorescence sensing strategy, in which the fluorescence signal of the Ln-MOF material demonstrates the self-calibration of two emission bands by introducing a target analyte to the Ln-MOF material, providing a more superior accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity sensing abilities compared to the single emissive fluorescence sensing strategy. Among the ratio fluorescence sensing strategies, an attractive type of ratio fluorescence sensing strategy is classified as an on–off ratiometric fluorescence strategy with one fluorescence emission enhancement and the other fluorescence quenching, which have been less reported in Ln-MOF chemistry. …”
