Biogenic Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles: Evaluation of Their Larvicidal, Antibacterial, and Cytotoxic Activities

Abstract: To explore the larvicidal activity of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using the ethanolic Catharanthus roseus flower extract (CRE) against the larvae of Aedes aegypti (A. aegypti), AgNPs were synthesized by an eco-friendly method and characterized by Ultraviolet−Visible (UV−Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Particle Size Analysis, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Energy-Dispersive X-Ray spectrometry (EDX) analysis. The resultant … Show more

“…Indeed, it seemed that the presence of silver applied an inhibitory effect on the antioxidant activity of MoO 3 /PAN, possibly involving chemical interactions with the MoO 3 /PAN components. Over time, the scavenging activity increased by approximately 30%, which may be associated with the gradual release of silver ions and potential oxidation of the DPPH molecules themselves. , …”

“…2 Biogenic synthesis methods, 3 utilizing plant extracts as reducing agents, 4 have gained attention as a green and sustainable approach for nanoparticle synthesis. The biogenic synthesis of Ag-NPs, 5 AuNPs, 6 and Ag-Au BMNPs 7 has been explored using various plant extracts, such as Solidago canadensis, Stigmaphyllon ovatum, Gloriosa superba, pomegranate seeds, Arabic gum, and Moringa oleifera. 813 Verma and Kumar provided a comprehensive review of the biosynthesis and applications of Ag and Au nanoparticles derived from Biological Systems.…”
