Bioinformatics analysis and identification of hub genes and immune-related molecular mechanisms in chronic myeloid leukemia

Abstract: Background Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a malignant hyperplastic tumor of the bone marrow originating from pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells. The advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has greatly improved the survival rate of patients with CML. However, TKI-resistance leads to the disease recurrence and progression. This study aimed to identify immune-related genes (IRGs) associated with CML progression. Methods We extracted the gene’s expression profiles from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).… Show more

“…This suggests that RNASE2 plays an important role in the immune system 29 . As an immune-related molecule, RNASE2 is a biomarker of various immune system diseases, including chronic myelogenous leukemia, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple myeloma [30][31][32][33] . In terms of cancer, RNASE2 www.nature.com/scientificreports/ promotes the malignant progression of glioma through the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway 34 .…”

“…It inhibits ROS-induced apoptosis in cardiomyocytes via PI3K-Akt pathway (Ishii et al, 2015). In hematological cancers, it was significantly upregulated in CML patients' PBMCs compared with healthy controls (Yao et al, 2022). APOE (apolipoprotein E) is a known immune suppressant, which is significantly regulated in many human tumors, but its role in multiple myeloma has not been defined (Wu et al, 2022).…”

“…19 Moreover, the expression of RETN was significantly associated with immune cell disorders. 20 Thus, to investigate the influence of RETN on the immune response, we determined whether RETN affected the Jurkat cells' secretion of cytokines. The results indicated that RETN increased the expression of IL-2 and IFN-γ, suggesting that RETN enhances the immune activity of the Jurkat cells.…”

“…RETN is a family member of mouse resistin-like genes that displays antibacterial activity in the skin against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria . Moreover, the expression of RETN was significantly associated with immune cell disorders .
