Biologi dan Statistik Demografi Coccinella transversalis Thunberg (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), Predator Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae)

Abstract: Biology and demographic statistics of lady beetle Coccinella  transversalis Thunberg (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) using Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) as prey was studied in laboratory. Development of  C. transversalis from egg to adult was 31.02±4.73 days. The egg stage lasted for 2.33±0.58 days. Larva stage has four instars, which lasted for 2.43±0.19 days (instar I); 2.53 days±0.19 (instar II); 2.64±0.04 days (instar III), and 2.77±0.21 days (instar IV). A female laid 90.44±14.38 eggs. Meanwhile, gros… Show more

“…This species is moderately large with hard-bodied species with large blunt teeth on the sides of the pronotum and a crenulate anterior clypeal margin (General and Alpert 2012). C. transversalis (Thunberg) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) is a species of cocci abundant predators in Asia that have a wide range of prey namely soft-bodied insects, especially aphids (Efendi et al 2018).…”

“…Doubling time of A. glycines reared on untreated plants was 1.184 days and 1.245 days from populations reared on PGPR treated plants. Low DT values may increase GRR and Ro (Efendi et al, 2018). The value of rm and DT can explain population growth in constant environmental condition and unlimited resources (Price, 1997;Southwood & Henderson, 2000).…”

“…Coccinelids or ladybird beetles (Coleoptera; Coccinellidae) consists of many species and some of them predatory on other insects [1]. In the world found 3000 types of the family distributed across many countries and most of coccinellids are predators on coccids and aphids, some of them feed on acarines or aleurodicus [2].…”

“…But in other case C. transversalis results functional responsiveness to prey M. persicae and A. Gossypii. Both of these predators have functional response as potential predator [22]. The study of aspect biology expected will provide information about the relationship between biological agents and pests as their prey which can be used as the basis for applications in field.…”
