Biologia populacional do peixe pedra, Genyatremus luteus (Bloch, 1790), na costa amazônica brasileira

Abstract: Genyatremus luteus is a species of commercial importance in the Pará state. In this study, the population biology of G. luteus was investigated in an estuary of the Eastern Amazon, the collections occurred from October 2012 to October 2013, each month, in the tidal channel (Furo grande), with block net. In the laboratory, the individuals were gauged in relation to the lengths: total, standard, head and height, in addition to weight being recorded. After ventral incision and gonads removal, the gonadal stage wa… Show more

“…The investigated species has shown great potential to be used for extractive fishery (Almeida et al, 2005) and, above all, to enhance marine fish farming due to its meat quality and economic value (Marques et al, 2016). Studies about G. luteus available in the literature often address seasonal variations in its commercial capture (Fernandes et al, 2015), hormone-induced spawning (Marques et al, 2016) and species' diet in Northeastern Brazil (Almeida et al, 2005;Fernandes et al, 2017). According to Noleto-Filho et al (2012), Genyatremus luteus has aquaculturerelated potential, since it is capable of adapting to captive environments and shows trophic plasticity.…”

“…Habitam regiões tropicais e subtropicais, principalmente águas marinhas e estuarinas (LINDEMAN e TOXEY, 2002). Em geral as espécies incluídas na família Haemulidae são representadas por peixes pequenos e apenas duas conseguem atingir cerca de 50 cm (CERVIGÓN et al, 1992), a comercialização da espécie ocorre principalmente nos estados do Maranhão e Pará (ALMEIDA et al, 2011;FERNANDES et al, 2015).…”
