“…Haemulidae is currently composed of 12 genera and 33 endemic TEP species (Tavera, Acero, & Wainwright, 2018). The diversification of the Haemulidae has been mediated by the wide range of environments that this family can colonize, linked to their feeding ecology (Lucano‐Ramírez, Ruiz‐Ramírez, Aguilar‐Palomino, & Rojo‐Vázquez, 1996; Price, Tavera, Near, & Wainwright, 2012; Ruiz‐Ramírez, Lucano‐Ramírez, González‐Sansón, Rojo‐Vázquez, & Arellano‐Martínez, 2012; Tavera et al., 2012), promoting diversity of life histories (Appeldoorn et al., 2009).
