Abstract: Reproductive biology of Anisotremus interruptus (Perciformes: Haemulidae) in the Mexican Central Pacific. Anisotremus interruptus is a widely distributed and commercially important species in the Eastern Pacific. A multi-year research on the reproduction of this species was carried out in coastal waters of Jalisco, Mexico. For this purpose, monthly samples were gathered with gillnets of different mesh sizes from 1998-2008. A total of 1 090 individuals were collected with a total length range between 15.6-61.0c… Show more

“…Haemulidae is currently composed of 12 genera and 33 endemic TEP species (Tavera, Acero, & Wainwright, 2018). The diversification of the Haemulidae has been mediated by the wide range of environments that this family can colonize, linked to their feeding ecology (Lucano‐Ramírez, Ruiz‐Ramírez, Aguilar‐Palomino, & Rojo‐Vázquez, 1996; Price, Tavera, Near, & Wainwright, 2012; Ruiz‐Ramírez, Lucano‐Ramírez, González‐Sansón, Rojo‐Vázquez, & Arellano‐Martínez, 2012; Tavera et al., 2012), promoting diversity of life histories (Appeldoorn et al., 2009). The genus Anisotremus includes four species in the TEP, with Anisotremus interruptus (Gill, 1862), the Burrito grunt, as the most widespread member (from the Gulf of California to Peru, including four oceanic islands and archipelagos).…”

In addition, A. interruptus is of significant commercial importance to fisheries and artisanal fishers (Ruiz‐Ramírez et al, 2012).…”
