“…The phenolic compounds found in the fruits and leaves of guabiroba tree are related to the solvent used for extraction. Anthocyanins (cyanidin-3-O-glucoside, delphinidin-3-Oglucoside, and pelargonidin-3,5-diglucoside), phenolic acids (caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid), and flavonoids (quercetin, myricitrin, rutin) were also found in high concentrations in this plant (de Oliveira Raphaelli et al, 2021). Some authors fractionated the C. xanthocarpa extracts and identified various components, including 2',4'-dihydroxy-5 '-methyl-6'methoxychalcone;2',4'-dihydoxy-3',5'-dimethyl-6'-methoxychalcone; 2'-hydroxy-3'-methyl-4',6'-dimethoxychalcone;2',6'dihydroxy-3'-methyl-4'-methoxychalcone;5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-8methylflavanone; and 7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-6methylflavanone (Salmazzo et al, 2019).…”

“…Guabiroba is a yellow-orange fruit with acid and sweet flavor, which can be consumed fresh or processed as jelly, ice cream, liquor or tea (7) . The fresh fruits of guabiroba have a moisture content varying between 79-83% (w/w), 8-16% carbohydrates, 6 to 10% fiber, 1 to 5.5% proteins, and 0.1 to 3.7% lipids.…”

“…The biological effects of guabiroba consist of antiproliferative, anti-obesity, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities (7) . The compound 5-hydroxy-7methoxy-8-methylflavanone isolated from guabiroba extracts proved to be effective against melanoma, breast, ovarian, kidney, lung, prostate and colon cells, without being toxic to vero cells (normal cell), showing antiproliferative activity of these extracts (62) .…”

“…Among them, the uvaia ( Eugenia pyriformis Cambess), the feijoa, also known as “highland guava” ( Acca sellowiana ), the orange passion fruit ( Passiflora caerulea ), the red araçá ( Psidium cattleyanum ), the guabiroba ( Campomanesia xanthocarpa ), and the jaboticaba ( Plinia trunciflora ) are the ones that draw the most attention. These fruit species have been acknowledged for their functional properties because of their high antioxidant activity and considerable amounts of phenolic compounds, pigments, vitamins, and minerals (de Neves et al, 2021; de Raphaelli et al, 2021; dos Pereira et al, 2020; Reis, Facco, Flôres, & de Rios, 2018; Sganzerla et al, 2021; Zhu, 2018). In this way, the use of native fruits can be an interesting strategy for the development of differentiated vinegars, promoting added value and the strengthening of the productive chain of these fruits.…”
