Abstract:Control of the crop pest African cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval) by chemical insecticides has led to serious resistance problems. Ajuga plants contain phytoecdysteroids (arthropod steroid hormone analogs regulating metamorphoses) and clerodanes (diterpenoids exhibiting antifeedant activity).
