Biomarker triplet NAMPT/VEGF/HER2 as a de novo detection panel for the diagnosis and prognosis of human breast cancer

Abstract: The early detection of breast cancer, the most common malignant tumor disease in women worldwide, relies on mammography and self breast examination. Here we evaluated the concentration of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) in serum and their expression in breast tissues associated with the clinicopathological features of patients with benign and malignant breast tumors. The immunohistochemical analysis sh… Show more

“…Consistently, Song et al (2015[40]) and Zhan et al (2017[53]) reported that miR-494 expression was down-regulated in BC cells. We also found that the basal protein levels of NAMPT in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were significantly higher than MCF-10A, which is consistent with findings from previous studies (Lee et al, 2011[26]; Zhu et al, 2016[55]; Sharif et al, 2016[36]). We showed that there is an inverse relationship between expression of miR-494 and NAMPT in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines.…”
