Biomedical Applications of Silver Nanoparticles (Review)

Abstract: Introduction. Silver nanoparticles have unique physicochemical properties and can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of various kinds of infections, oncological diseases, as well as drug delivery. The review presents an analysis of scientific literature on the use of silver nanoparticles for biomedical purposes.Text. The review discusses the perspectives of the silver nanoparticles use in the treatment of oncological diseases as a carrier of drugs, as well as the direct manifestation of their cytotoxic ef… Show more

“…Nanoparticles are a relatively new material in the medical field, but over the years they have become more and more relevant, since they have a very wide range of applications due to their different nature. Metal nanoparticles can be actively used as antibacterial, cytotoxic, and diagnostic materials [7][8][9][10]. Polymer nanoparticles can also be used as drug delivery systems to diagnose and treat various diseases [4,11].…”

“…Attempts have been made to combine nanomaterials and modern antimicrobial drugs which exhibit synergism and improve the effect several times over [ 4 ]. In addition, new therapies based on targeted drug delivery [ 5 ] and nanoparticle-activated photothermal therapy are being actively investigated [ 6 ], as well as their potential for use in tissue and tumor imaging applications [ 7 ].…”
