The introduction of new technologies is not foreign to the rural Andean space in Peru, where using state mechanisms, agro-exports and productivity are promoted, creating space for the entry of new technologies that could alter their rural dynamics. Therefore, the research analyzed the role of technology in rurality, contrasting the reality of the rural space around the cultivation of quinoa, with the position of the grower regarding the possible use of nanotechnology (hydrogels with nanofertilizers) in quinoa cultivation, in rural areas. from Puno and Cusco (Peru), based on the characterization of the rural space around quinoa, and semi-structured conversations on the positioning of the grower regarding nanotechnology. A complex, highly variable rural space was identified, with gradual intermittency in its characteristics, not exclusive, isolated or unique, regardless of size, objective or organizational level, a complexity that the nanotechnology harvest guarantee is insufficient to strengthen rural permanence. On the contrary, it generates: Indifference, doubt and fear of possible social and environmental impacts, requiring participatory experimentation in the field to take a position, therefore, technology must be oriented towards crisis situations that threaten coexistence, and must transcend the factor of production. a convivial factor to strengthen rurality.
