Bis[μ-N-(3-methoxy-2-oxidobenzylidene-1:2κ2O2:O2)-L-isoleucinato-2κ2N,O]bis(1,10-phenanthroline-1κ2N,N′)dinickel(II) methanol tetrasolvate trihydrate

Abstract: In the title complex, [Ni2(C14H17NO4)2(C12H8N2)2]·4CH3OH·3H2O, the two NiIIions are bridged by two Schiff base anions, leading to a dinuclear complex. One NiIIion is six-coordinated by four O atoms and two N atoms of two tridentate Schiff base ligands derived from the condensation of L-isoleucine ando-vanillin. The other NiIIion is six-coordinated by four N atoms of two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms of the Schiff base ligands. In the crystal, intermolecular O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds lead… Show more

“…The dinuclear complex is formally neutral being composed by an anionic [Zn(Sal-Gly) 2 ] 2− and a cationic [Zn (Bphen) 2 ] 2+ species that are bound through the O phenolate bridges. This type of arrangement of the phenanthroline ligands, giving rise to two metal centers with different coordination spheres, is not common and only one example of a similar Ni dinuclear compound was found in the literature [61]. The elemental composition of monomer 5 and dinuclear 5a are indistinguishable.…”

“…both the N atom and the carboxy moiety are placed in gauche positions against the ethyl group on the C carbon. In the crystals of metal complexes containing Ile moieties, no B-type conformation has yet been observed, but A-type and C-type conformations are seen with similar probabilities (Cai et al, 2000;Rao et al, 2008;Li et al, 2009;Jing et al, 2011;Li et al, 2012;Wang et al, 2012;Shabari et al, 2012;Tašner et al, 2013). In organic compounds and salts, the A-type conformation is more common than the other two types (Trommel & Bijvoet, 1954;Benedetti et al, 1973;Cotrait et al, 1979;Dalhus & Gö rbitz, 2000;Gö rbitz & Hartviksen, 2006;Yamada et al, 2008;Yajima et al, 2008;Akazome et al, 2010).…”
