“…Our results of this sub-analysis confirm the trends seen in the overall evaluation reported in 2009 [9]: DRSP/EE drastically reduces intermenstrual bleeding, dysmenorrea (Figure 1), heavy bleedings (Figure 2) and signs of water retention like abdominal bloating and breast tenderness (Figure 3). In contrast, amenorrhea and incidence of swelling extremities remained relatively stable in Jordan which might be explainable be the high percentage of OC users at baseline (49.8% in Jordan vs. 35.9% in Lebanon and 38.6% in Syria).…”

“…In one study, unscheduled bleeding after cycle 6 was reported at 8.8%32, and in another study, an incidence of 5.4% was reported34. A possible explanation for the observed higher incidence of unscheduled bleeding/spotting is the use of the more accurate electronic diaries in the current study instead of paper diary cards or a woman's personal recollection during clinic visits32,34,35. In the current study, women could only enter the daily bleeding information retrospectively for the previous two days, providing very accurate values for the incidence of unscheduled bleeding/spotting, likely resulting in the higher incidences for DRSP/EE users than observed with paper diaries.…”

“…Among the five OC products presented and described to survey participants, the most favoured formulation irrespective of behavioural segment was 3 mg drospirenone + 0.03 mg ethinylestradiol (31–39% selection rate across segments). Described as having a proven low influence on body weight and providing adequate cycle control with low incidence of intermenstrual bleeding, amenorrhoea and dysmenorrhoea [ 29 34 ], it is likely that these attributes have broad appeal. The second-place positioning of 0.075 mg gestodene + 0.02 mg ethinylestradiol (28%) in the Low Hormone Content group and of 2 mg chlormadinone + 0.03 mg ethinylestradiol (26%) in the Beauty group, was consistent with each segment.…”
