In collaborative social development platforms such as GitHub, forking a repository is a common activity. A variant fork wants to split the development from the original repository and grow towards a different direction. In this preliminary exploratory research, we analyze the possible reasons for creating a variant fork in blockchain-oriented software. By collecting repositories in GitHub, we created a dataset with repositories and their variants, from which we manually analyzed 86 variants. Based on the variants we studied, the main reason to create a variant in blockchain-oriented software is to support a different blockchain platform (65%).

To solve the problem that the traditional expressway tunnel monitoring system has low monitoring efficiency and can not respond quickly to the abnormal situation in the tunnel, a new remote monitoring system is designed based on the traditional monitoring system and the Internet of Things technology. The system uses B/S hardware architecture to provide a good hardware guarantee for real-time remote monitoring. The system software designs the page end unit to record and capture the video of the interface end of the expressway tunnel; uses SQL Server to establish the tunnel remote monitoring database, store and manage the remote monitoring data. The system also uses the Internet of Things technology to read the dynamic data in the expressway tunnel, and designs the remote monitoring scheme. The test and analysis show that the operation functions of each module of the new remote monitoring system meet the expected design requirements. When an abnormal situation occurs in the tunnel, the system can monitor it and give an alarm quickly, with high feasibility.

Big data has attracted extensive attention from industries and universities during the past few years. Big data is crucial in many fields, such as business analytics, healthcare, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart home, supply chain, transportation, and fraud detection. Nevertheless, some challenges must be addressed, such as decentralization, integration, data sharing, privacy, and security. On the other hand, blockchain has numerous potential for improving big data services and applications because of its decentralized, verifiable, and anti‐tamper features. We apply the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach in this study to investigate blockchain integrity in big data and understand the different topics and significant areas already presented. This paper aims to analyze studies on blockchain integration in big data published between 2017 and 2022. A technical taxonomy is presented for blockchain integration into big data, including data storage, security, and applications based on the field of articles selected by the SLR method. Finally, the achievements and shortcomings of each study are discussed, and future research challenges and open issues related to blockchain integration in big data are highlighted.
