Blockchain technology offers numerous advantages, with one of its paramount benefits for peaceful nuclear applications being advanced security. This paper aims to showcase the merits of blockchain technology in automating the tracking of radioactive materials and encrypting their associated data and information. The demonstration is approached with technical examination of blockchain attributes suited for nuclear applications, coupled with expert evaluation regarding its prospective use in monitoring and encrypting the trade of radioactive materials. These assessments collectively demonstrated the promising potential of blockchain to bolster and elevate the security of radioactive materials trade. Moreover, this paper delves into the ongoing development of a blockchain application that embodies a model for monitoring the movement of radioactive materials – from the production facility to the end-user. This involves the integration of data from diverse sources, including measurements from radiation detectors, into the application.
