Blockchain Software Selection as a Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Problem

Abstract: Increased consumer requirements for quality, safety and traceability of goods in supply chains has accelerated the implementation of blockchain during the COVID-19 pandemic. The right choice of blockchain software is a complicated task and an important prerequisite for successful deployment. In this study, we propose a conceptual framework for group multi-criteria selection of blockchain software in fuzzy environment according to organization needs and experts’ judgements. The applicability of the new framewor… Show more

“…Later, in 2022, due to the hard fork, eosio blockchain was renamed to Antelope.io [13], which forced the migration of the blockchain network. The development of the SCPDx platform was preceded by a number of studies related to the choice of blockchain platform [14], blockchain-enabled supply-chain modelling for a smart crop production framework [15], and blockchain oracles integration [16].…”

“…The documents resulting from the search operation have been reviewed and filtered by prioritizing those with (i) a significant number of descriptive criteria for blockchain technologies; (ii) a higher relevance in terms of pertinence to the searched keywords. At the end of the process, five documents have been identified [55,[57][58][59][60] that led to a total of 36 classification criteria.…”

“…Once the criteria have been defined, they have been filtered according to their occurrence in the five documents, as shown in Table A1 [56][57][58][59][60]. A criterion is selected if it appears in at least half of the works analyzed (three out of five).…”

“…The MCDM method is used to find the optimum solution depending on the criteria required by the decision-maker. MCDM is defined as evaluating multiple conflicting criteria while considering the decision criteria needed to determine the most efficient decision [62,63]. Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Fuzzy Set Theory, Case-based Reasoning (CBR), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Simple-Attribute Rating Technique, Goal Programming, ELECTRE, PROMETHEE, Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and Technique for Order of Preference by similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) were the eleven types of MCDM methods identified [64,65].…”
