“…cryaerophilus infection could cause a decrease in serum cholesterol and triglyceride values of rainbow trout. Although serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations may significantly increase with Serratia liquefaciens infection (Aydin et al, 2001), Vibrio vulnificus infection (Chen et al, 2004) and nephrocalcinosis (Chen et al, 2002), they can also decrease with natural and experimental infections of A. cryaerophilus in rainbow trout (Aydin et al, 2000) and albino crosses of rainbow trout (Bulut and Aydin, 2004), A. hydrophila infection in carp (Harikrishnan et al, 2003) and Streptococcus iniae infection in tilapia (Chen et al, 2004) as was the case in our study. In this work a correlation was observed between changes of serum triglyceride and cholesterol concentrations.…”

“…Those blood characteristics, for which a relationship with a disease state has been established, have been primarily for major cultured fish species. Researchers indicated that the study of some haematological and biochemical parameters in fish blood has been associated with infectious diseases (Aydin et al, 1997(Aydin et al, , 2000(Aydin et al, , 2001(Aydin et al, , 2002Chen et al, 2004), nutritional deficits (Chen et al, 2004), physiological activity (Chen et al, 2004), toxicity (Chen et al, 2002;Yang and Chen, 2003), anoxic conditions and the other environmental factors in fish farming. However, an experimental approach to reveal the link between disease state and clinical pathology is still urgently needed for many teleost species.…”

“…Glucose, triglycerides and serum albumin whilst showed statistically significant higher values. These differences of the biochemical parameters in the two studied fish groups are a consequence of the influence of the different habitat conditions and in particular of the different environment conditions as proven by other researches (Jiraseket al, 1998;Hrubecet al, 2000;Chen et al, 2003;Mensingeret al, 2005;Aras et al,2008. Haematological and biochemical parameters have been acknowledged as valuable tools for monitoring fish health and their normal values are still undefined for the different species of cultured fish. The results of this preliminary study provide the knowledge of the characteristics of blood parameters of rainbow trout O. mikissfrom two different countries and allow a better understanding of the environmental conditions influence on the haematological and biochemical parameters of rainbow trout farmed in two different areas.…”

“…Total protein is used to evaluate protein metabolism (Aydin et al, 2000), and it is a significant indicator of homeostasis (Řehulka and Minařík, 2007). Decreased total serum protein has been reported with A. cryaerophilus infections (Aydin et al, 2000;Bulut and Aydin, 2004;Yildiz and Aydin, 2006), yersiniosis (Altun and Diler, 1999), Serratia liquefaciens infection (Aydin et al, 2001), motile Aeromonas septicaemia (Harikrishnan et al, 2003), streptococcosis (Chen et al, 2004), natural Aeromonas sobria and Aeromonas caviae infections (Řehulka, 2002), and nephritic syndrome (Chen et al, 2002). Research on the function and uses of serum albumin continues to be of great interest because of the dominant position of albumin in the plasma proteins.…”

“…A fall in albumin concentration may be ascribed to its elevated catabolism which increases in cases of inflammation and reduced food intake, which also often accompany infectious diseases (Ře-hulka and Minařík, 2007). Significant declines of serum albumin level have been reported in natural and experimental infections with A. cryaerophilus (Aydin et al, 2000;Bulut and Aydin, 2004;Yildiz and Aydin, 2006), yersiniosis (Altun and Diler, 1999), Aeromonas and Streptococcus infections (Barham et al, 1980), coldwater vibriosis (Waagbø et al, 1988), Vibrio anguillarum infection (Harbell et al, 1979), furunculosis (Møyner, 1993), and nephrocalcinosis (Chen et al, 2002).…”
