“…All pigs were tested at about 12 weeks of age for stress susceptibility by challenge with halothane anesthesia using the method of Eikelenboom and Minkema (1974). Animals that exhibited rigidity within 5 min after exposure to 3 percent halothane in oxygen (Hwang, McGrath, Addis, Rempel, Thompson, and Antonik, 1978) were classified as malignant hyperthermia positive (MH + ) while animals that did not show rigidity were classified as malignant hyperthermia negative (MH -).
