“…Remarkably, a specific set of membrane and cytoskeletal proteins (SLC4A1, RHAG, DSC1, DSP, and JUP), which play crucial roles in maintaining the stability and structure of the cell membrane and the shape of a cell, were observed to be dramatically decreased in DBS. Since the blood cell is composed of 99% red blood cells (RBCs) and only 1% white blood cells and platelets, 41 we attribute the majority of membrane proteins to erythrocytes. As such, we found that the abundance of five erythrocyte membrane skeletal proteins including αand βspectrin (SPTA1 and SPTB), tropomodulin 1 (TMOD1), αadducin (ADD1), and ankyrin (ANK1), 32 albeit not statistically significant, was concordantly decreased by more than 1.2-fold in DBS relative to that in whole blood samples (Figure S3; Table S7).…”

“…Changes in LDH levels in blood bags stored in cooler boxes during the transportation process can increase in almost all conditions of organ or tissue damage or when cell destruction occurs. Cell damage and hemolysis that occur can also be seen through increased levels of various substances in the plasma that were previously contained by erythrocytes [18]. Changes in the shape of erythrocytes can be caused by reduced ATP in erythrocytes.…”

“…Previous studies have been conducted to develop a rubber arm with a fluid system for venipuncture training, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of blood drawing for medical science and nursing students. This innovation can assist students in performing the procedure with confidence by providing a better understanding of the steps involved [ 7,8] . The results showed that 72.…”

“…The results showed that 72. 62% of students appreciated learning the procedure using an artificial arm before performing blood collection from patients [ 7] . Synthetic polymers for venipuncture practice offer precise structures and customizable properties.…”
