“…GI hemangioma of BRBNS is occasionally transmural [2]. Although some authors suggest they produce good clinical outcomes, endoscopic interventions, such as argon plasma coagulation, band ligation, electrocauterization, or histoacryl injection to the relatively thin small intestinal wall, can cause bowel perforation or rebleeding [7,9]. For overt bleeding, it is very difficult to localize the bleeding vessel because of the large amount of intraluminal blood.…”

“…Moreover, the small bowel is frequently involved and intestinal endoscopy is not widely used in children. [19,20] In contrast to cutaneous lesion, gastrointestinal lesion tends to bleed easily, leading to massive hemorrhage and iron-de¿ ciency anemia, which could be very severe and require blood transfusion. The 3 cases in our hospital presented with melena and anemia.…”

“…BRBNS must be differentiated from the Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome, Maffucci syndrome and Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome. [16][17][18][19][20]25] Treatment of BRBNS is mainly symptomatic. Skin lesions are seldom treated unless they are cosmetically or functionally troublesome.…”

“…This method is associated with less risk, because of the reduced depth of penetration and allows an easy and speedy treatment of multiple arteriovenous malformations. However, a recent report and follow-up of argon plasma coagulation in an 8-month-old baby showed a successful immediate result, but some years after treatment the patient developed colonic penetration and needed surgery [12,13]. In this case the electrocoagulation treatment was used as a rescue treatment because of life threatening bleeding episodes.…”
