“…Whereas the majority of the studies deal with the performance implications of various characteristics of the chair position, in‐depth qualitative studies have become more common recently (e.g., Bezemer, Nicholson, & Pugliese, 2018) and revealed new insights that go beyond the usual perspectives of agency or stewardship theory. Based on the current stage of knowledge and remaining research gaps, Banerjee et al (2020) suggest several avenues for future studies that promise novel and valuable insights on the role of the chairperson.
