Bone histomorphometry of broilers submitted to different phosphorus sources in growing and finisher rations

Abstract: -The objective of this work was to identify alterations in the histomorphology of the cortical bone tissue of broilers submitted to growing and finisher rations formulated with five different sources of phosphorus: dicalcium phosphate, simple superphosphate, triple superphosphate, monoammonium phosphate and Araxá rock phosphate. Histological images had their components segmented, and were called regions of interest (ROI). Images were analyzed through developed algorithms, using the SCILAB mathematical environm… Show more

“…The 168 images captured with objective lens of 10× were segmented and analyzed using a methodology proposed by Oliveira et al (2006) (Figs. 1A–1C), which consists in an histological analysis performed by algorithms developed in the SCILAB mathematical environment, considering several morphological features of bone channels and image texture characterization.…”

“…(16) and proposed by Oliveira and cols. (17), which consists of an interactive method of drawing and selecting all channels (vascular areas as Havers and Volkmann channels) in the image ( Figure 1B). Afterward, an analysis was performed by algorithms developed in the SCILAB mathematical environment, considering several morphological features of cortical bone channels network (CBCN) and using image texture characterization.…”
