“…The fact that dancing was the third most common sports type performed by females, who underwent hip arthroscopy for FAIS, is another surprising finding. Although this result supports previous theories that supraphysiological hip, ROMs may cause impingement and excessive stress on intra‐articular structures, 27 earlier studies have reported a fairly low prevalence of cam morphology among dancers (3%‐18%) 27‐29 . This discrepancy between studies may indicate that those “few” dancers with cam morphology appear to run a higher risk of developing FAIS and potentially require treatment.…”
