Bottomonia suppression in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

Abstract: Using the two-component model that includes both initial production from nucleon-nucleon hard scattering and regeneration from produced quark-gluon plasma (QGP), we study the effect of medium modifications of the binding energies and radii of bottomonia on their production in heavyion collisions. We find that the contribution to bottomonia production from regeneration is small and the inclusion of medium effects is helpful for understanding the observed suppression of bottomonia production in experiments carri… Show more

“…The suppression found experimentally is much more pronounced than in the calculation, in particular, for the three more peripheral data points. Other theoretical approaches such as [44][45][46] also find that the Υ(2S ) suppression factor rises towards 1 for peripheral collisions, in contrast with the data.…”

“…Indeed, other approaches such as those in Refs. [33][34][35] also find that the ϒ(2S) suppression factor rises towards 1 for peripheral collisions. As a consequence of the disagreement with the centrality-dependent data, our minimum bias results of Table I also disagree substantially for the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) states.…”
