Bound amino acids in humic acids from arable cropping systems

Abstract: We investigated the varying concentrations of bound amino acids in humic acids (HA) extracted from soils under both crop rotation and continuous cropping of rye. The experiment was created in 1957. Since then, winter rye had been grown continuously and also the sequence of the 7 yr rotation had been started: potato, spring barley, alfalfa, alfalfa, oil seed rape, winter rye, and winter rye. Soils were fertilized with NPK and manure. Continuous cropping of rye increased total acidity of soils and the contents o… Show more

“…Established plant density in plants/m 2 , average number of grains/ear and fertilizer applications (kg/ha) were available for the years 1972–2012. Further details of the study are discussed in detail in Blecharczyk ( 1999 ) and Szajdak et al ( 2004 ). Mean monthly temperatures and monthly precipitation, collected according to WMO guidelines for the years 1961–2012, were obtained from the Brody Experimental Station meteorological station.…”

“…However, the use of natural and organic fertilizers is of greater practical importance in maintaining an appropriate SOC [ 177 ]. Szajdak et al [ 178 ] reported that a yearly application of 30 t ha −1 of manure to light soil over 38 years doubled the SOC content. The increase in plant biomass as a result of the use of NPK fertilizers leads to an increase in the influx of C to the soil.…”

“…This is one of the oldest experiments in Poland, and one of the only three designed in a similar way in Europe, based on a valid statistical design. More details on the study area with information on soil fertility are provided in Blecharczyk et al [ 74 , 75 ] and Szajdak et al [ 76 ].…”
