Abstract:A new model of instability of uniform plastic deformation with the formation of Lüders bands on the surface of a material being deformed is experimentally confirmed. It has been found that nonuniform plastic deformations correlate with hydrogen concentration during the testing of metal specimens in the atmosphere at room temperature. The presence of additional pores and microcracks formed as a result of plastic deformation is the cause of the correlation between plastic deformations and hydrogen concentrations… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
