Bounds on Higgs-portal models from the LHC Higgs data

Abstract: In a number of Higgs-portal models, an SU(2) isospin-singlet scalar boson generically appears at the electroweak scale and can mix with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson with a mixing angle α. This singlet scalar boson can have renormalizable couplings to a pair of dark matter particles, vector-like leptons or quarks, or new gauge bosons, thereby modifying the Higgs signal strengths in a nontrivial way. In this work, we perform global fits to such models using the most updated LHC Higgs-boson data and discus… Show more

Here we consider DM-neutron scattering cross section for simplicity where that of DMproton case gives almost similar result.…”

“…This bound is of course evaded if m s > m h /2. The results of the Higgs boson measurements at the LHC also give a constraint on the mixing angle α, but it is still rather weak; |α| 0.1 is enough to evade all of the existing bounds from the Higgs data [90].…”

“…Note that H 2 is the SM-like Higgs, h, and m H 2 ≃ m h where mixing angle θ is constrained to be sin θ 0.2 by data of Higgs search at the LHC [14][15][16]. 2 For small mixing, we have H 2 ≃ h and H 3 ≃ ρ.…”
