“…Unlike peripheral blood, T cells in healthy mammary glands and milk are mostly CD8 + (Sordillo & Streicher, 2002). However, increased amounts of CD4 + T cells concurrent with a decrease of their CD8 + counterparts is observed in milk during mastitis (Riollet et al, 2001; Soltys & Quinn, 1999; Tucker et al, 2023) indicating that these cells are important mediators of MG immune defences.
